iLAuNCH announces its partnership on a groundbreaking $50 million sovereign Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite project

Today marks a major milestone for Australian space and communications technology!

iLAuNCH is proud to announce its partnership with Optus, HEO, Inovor Technologies, SmartSat CRC and Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) on a groundbreaking $50 million sovereign Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite project.

Through the Australian Government Department of Education’s Trailblazer Program, two cutting-edge payloads will be delivered with our university partners — the University of Southern Queensland and the University of South Australia — supporting advancements in connectivity, non-Earth imaging and optical communications.

This exciting project builds on the innovative work already announced by iLAuNCH in partnership with The Australian National University (ANU), Optus and Leonardo UK to build smaller, lower-cost laser communications ground stations. It’s fantastic to see all three iLAuNCH university partners, USQ, ANU and UniSA, contributing with our industry partners across major satellite and communications projects that are shaping Australia’s future in space.

This collaboration strengthens Australia’s sovereign space capability and showcases the power of research and industry working together to deliver national impact.
