ANU InSpace has achieved many significant successes since its earliest formation in 2018. We are uplifted knowing that these achievements have enabled us to continue charting our future as an Institution.

A key element of our growth strategy is shifting the ANU InSpace Board to a 50/50 internal/external composition, giving us a more diverse, holistic, and wide-reaching approach.

We are pleased to introduce the new Chair of the ANU InSpace Board, Dr Sue Barrell AO FTSE.

"What excites me most about InSpace is the way it connects and catalyses research and researchers across the space sector and across disciplines to advance solutions to real world challenges," says Dr Barrell. "InSpace has already made its mark, and I am honoured to play a part in shaping its future."

We also welcome at this time another external Board member, The Hon Kate Lundy, with whom we have a longstanding relationship of collaboration and engagement. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Ms Lundy on several occasions, and we thank her for this additional commitment of her time and insights in joining the ANU InSpace Board.

Our external Board members have been carefully selected for their specific talents and unique attributes they will bring to our ongoing strategy and development at InSpace. In our next steps, we will be recruiting two additional external Board members. "We will be seeking to strengthen the skills, sector experience, and diversity of the ANU InSpace Board over the coming months to bring in wider perspectives," says Dr Barrell.

This change to a balanced internal/external Board composition still maintains membership from critical ANU leads whose colleges are providing the key capabilities of InSpace, including Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research Initiatives and Infrastructure, Professor Ute Roessner AM FAA; Dean of the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific, Professor Helen Sullivan FHEA; Dean of the ANU College of Science, Professor Kiaran Kirk AM FAHMS; as well as our own Director of ANU InSpace and Vice Chancellor’s Entrepreneurial Professor, Professor Anna Moore FTSE.

We envision the Board will help drive the strategic growth of InSpace from strength to strength for years to come!

Please join us in welcoming Dr Sue Barrell as our new ANU InSpace Board Chair, and The Hon Kate Lundy as a Board member.
