Last month, ANU InSpace Director Professor Anna Moore had the honour of visiting two of the world's leading groups on space radiation design and testing.
Says Professor Anna Moore, "It’s important to know what the world standard is as Australia continues to advance our own National Space Qualification Network and to understand the impact we can drive globally."
Anna's first visit was to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Thank you to our colleagues for giving Anna a tour of the mighty 88in cyclotron (pictured, photo courtesy of LBNL), and for conversations with group lead Dr Larry Phair and his team.
Next Anna traveled to Toulouse to visit Dr Francoise Bezerra, an internationally recognised lead on all things space radiation measurement and testing, and her group based at Centre National d'Études Spatiales. "It was a pleasure seeing the latest advances in the detection of space radiation using silicon based devices and how far we have come to enabling this for small to large satellites," Anna said.
Thank you, as well, to Dr David Trinkle, Director of BRDO at University of California, Berkeley, for a campus-wide introduction. "Just mind blowing!" Anna says.
