Professor Francis Bennet is pushing the boundaries of glass for advanced space technology. As a Mission Specialist for ANU InSpace, he is developing optical communication systems that use laser beams to provide next-generation communication across the globe and into space.
This new future of optical satellite communication will allow us to optimise communication across Australia during natural disasters and to remote locations which have been considered very hard to reach with current day communication. Discover why glass is so important for advancing space technology this National Science Week.
Thanks to ANU Science, Nic Vevers and Professor Francis Bennet for this story.
