Dr Doris Grosse

Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics

Dr. Doris Grosse is an optical instrument scientist specialising in adaptive optics at the Australian National University. Her expertise in adaptive optics spans over a range of instrumentation for astronomical, space situational awareness and laser communications applications.

Dr Grosse was a graduate engineer in high-frequency engineering from the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Bochum, Germany, where she also obtained her PhD in optics and photonics.

As a mission specialist for the ANU Institute for Space for Space Situational Awareness, she is a passionate advocate for the safety, security and sustainability of the space environment. To achieve this goal, she uses adaptive optics to characterise and identify space debris for space debris collision mitigation. Dr Grosse also serves on the Global Future Council of Space of the World Economic Forum.
