On 17 May, the ANU InSpace team traveled to Sydney to attend the Australian Space Summit and Space Awards, hosted by Space Connect, at the International Convention Centre in scenic Darling Harbour.

The Summit was a stimulating and fruitful day, full of engaging talks and networking opportunities. It was nice to catch up with old friends and to make some new connections.

The Awards dinner was held in the evening, with plentiful food and beverages and everyone dressed in their finest. And what an exciting night it was! In the very first award announced of the night, ANU Institute for Space was named the Academic Instititue of the Year. We're so honoured and humbled by this award, and we're taking up the challenge of living up to this award as we have many exciting and promising plans for the coming year.

As the evening progressed, our honours continued, with ANU InSpace Mission Specialist Marta Yebra being named Academic of the Year for her tireless work in bushfire resilience, and former ANU reseracher James Gilbert (now with Rocket Labs, New Zealand) being named Engineer of the Year.

The whole team at ANU InSpace is feeling energised by these wins, and we're keeping our eyes to the sky as we forge ahead.
